12 – 1 Electrocoat Tanks

Testing

Laboratory

Apparatus

1. E/Coat tank sample

2. Disposable sterile water dilution bottles containing 90 ml of solution. See bacteria equipment supplier list.

3. Permanent marker.

4. B-F indicator. Available from L&F Canada.

Procedure

1. Open dilution bottle and either weigh 10.5 grams or measure 10 ml of E/Coat bath into the bottle.

2. Replace stopper and gently shake to thoroughly mix the solutions.

3. Identify sample on B-F indicator with permanent marker.

4. Open the B-F indicator and pour the diluted sample on the dip slide.

5. Recap the B-F indicator and place back in the original box. Place box in a warm dark place. Optimal temperature for bacterial growth is 29°C - 38°C (85°F - 100°F).

6. Check for bacteria growth after 72 hours. Use the B-F indicator chart, enclosed in the B-F kit to quantify the amount of bacterial growth.
