1.Dow Jones industrial average 道琼斯指数
An index of the relative price movement of the shares of thirty major industrial companies, most of which are traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Changes in the average (noted as “rises” and “falls”) give investors a general picture of the state of the market. Often referred to as “the Dow.”

2.Nasdaq Composite Index 那斯达克指数
A market-value weighted index of all common stocks listed on Nasdaq. The Nasdaq Composite dates back to 1971, which is when the Nasdaq exchange was first formalized. The index is used mainly to track technology stocks, and thus it is not a good indicator of the market as a whole. Unlike the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), the Nasdaq is market value-weighted, so it takes into account the total market capitalization of the companies it tracks and not just their share prices.

3.Standard and Poor's 500 index 没有中文译名就叫:S&P 500指数
The S&P 500 is a list of 500 US corporations, ordered by market capitalization. The list is owned and maintained by Standard & Poor's Corporation.

All of the companies in the list are large publicly-held companies which trade on major US stock exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. The market-value weighted performance of the stocks of these companies is known as the S&P 500 index. After the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 is the most widely-watched index of large-cap US stocks and is considered to be a bellwether for the US economy.
