不是吧，呵呵，oxbridge也不敢说ucl差

目前主流生物医学，英国生物医学诺奖最多最主要的机构MRC(medical research council)，最大的一部分就在ucl（第二大的那部分在cambridge）。还有rockefeller foundation欧洲研究中心3个之中最大的一个也在ucl。还有欧洲最好的建筑学院之一,bartlett，翻翻建筑学journal应该都知道吧。计算机领域还有SUN的欧洲主要试验室，都是在ucl和ic之间展开的。ucl的经济学也是英国最好的之一。还有ucl的地理位置和图书馆，估计在英国范围内很少有其他学校能比了，学校和大英博物馆就隔条马路。

另外ucl是1826年建立的，英国范围内也只有7所大学可以更老些（edin,glasgow,st andrews,aberdeen,oxbridge,queens belfast），也是目前英国大学中少数几个没有随波逐流建立商学院的传统学术派大学。

诺奖的普及算法，ucl和美国uiuc，yale，pennsylvania等学校一样19个，也是伦大下属学院中囊括nobel prize最多的学院，在英国比ucl多的也就只有oxbridge manchester了

ucl几个大家都差不多能知道的校友有coldplay,日本第一位首相伊藤博文和目前的首相小犬纯一狼，印度圣雄甘地，还有发明电话那个贝尔和DNA双螺旋结构发现者Francis Harry Compton Crick。。。。

估计和你说的那个ucl是university of central lancashire，这个学校有时也被缩写成UCL，但一般为了区分精确的说是UCLAN。如果上面那些话是针对university college london的，那那个人恐怕有点过分YY了，况且在uk待了5年，从来也没听说过cement block作为大学类别的形容。英国大学按成立历史时期只分为ancient,red brick,campus,glass plate,new,modern/post92
