摘要：
比喻作为广泛运用的修辞方式，在日常交流尤其是文学创作中发挥了较大的作用，它增强了表达的生动性和感染力。然而，不同语言中的比喻又各有其特点。论文从三个方面阐述了汉英比喻的异同。第一，论文比较了汉英比喻的两种基本类型——明喻和暗喻。在说明二者结构及功能基本相同的基础上，着重讨论了它们的差别。论文从比喻词种类及比喻词的使用方式等方面对汉英明喻和暗喻进行了比较分析，指出了它们在表达方式和内在结构上的不同；第二，分析了喻体的类型及其与喻义的对应关系。论文从词、词组、单句、复合句及语篇等五个方面对比分析了汉英喻体的同与异。在其基础上，论文分析了汉英比喻中喻体和喻义不同的对应关系，并从“二柄”及“多边”的角度进行了讨论，比较了汉英比喻中“二柄”与“多边”的异同。最后，论文讨论了导致汉英比喻差异的历史文化背景，论文认为汉英两民族不同的自然环境、相异的历史文化传统以及不同的社会活动和风俗习惯导致了汉英比喻在风格和表达方式上的差异。

Abstract：
As a widely used figure of speech, metaphor plays an important role in our daily communication, especially in literature, for it makes our expression more vivid and moving. However, metaphor in different languages has its own feature. In three aspects, the essay expounds the similarities and differences in metaphor between Chinese and English. Firstly, the essay compares the two basic types of it, simile and metaphor. On the basis of explaining they are similar to each other in structure and function, it mostly discusses the differences between them. The essay points out the differences both in the ways of expressing and in their internal structures by comparing and analyzing their different sorts and the ways they are used. Secondly, it analyzes vehicle's styles and the corresponding relation between vehicle and the metaphoric meaning. It puts forth the similarities and differences between Chinese and English vehicles in 5 aspects, words, phrases, simple sentences, complex sentences and paragraphs. Based on this, the essay analyzes different corresponding relations between vehicle and the metaphoric meaning both in Chinese and in English language and the writer also compares ""Er Bing"" and ""Duo Bian"" between the two languages, which are put forward by Mr Qian Zhongshu. At last, the essay elaborates on the historical and cultural background which causes these differences and it arrives at a conclusion that different natural surroundings,diverse traditions of history and culture, varied social activities and customs cause the differences in styles and expressing ways of metaphor.between Chinese and English
