General essay:
1. Clarify the purpose/audience/context (P/A/C)
2. Use the writing techiniques to support P/A/C
3. Decide a genre for your writing- academic or creative
4. Plan your piece of writing (passive words)
5. Intro- open statement/relevant texts/ thesis statements
6. Body- reinforce thesis/supportive examples with possible references/ concluding these (rewrite thesis)
7. Re-write the introduction (general academic essay)
8. Introduction (objectives/aims)
9. Hypothesis (the outcoming)
10. Material list
11. Procedure/Method(passive words)
12. Conclusion (scientific report)
You can analyse an article from 3 dimensions which are audience, purpose and context. You have to find some writing techniques to support or argue against on audience, purpose and context. A lot of people will get confused about what context is. You can write discourses (subject matter) of the article or clarify whether the article is an exposition, description or narration in your text section. You may also add if the article is formal or informal, and explain why you say so such as direct quotes from the article.

I answered the same question a lot of times, I think next time, if you want to ask some questions, you should search in iask first.

I found I answered in another version as shown below:
从最基本的说起,其实和语文的议论文一样, 有introduction,body and conclusion。

Introduction- topic, point of view(optional),a breif introduction that the student will mention in the following paragraph (1st para of body).

Body- a thesis statement + supportive examples + a summary of the thesis(optional)
NB: one thesis (idea)/para.

Conclusion- rearrangement of introduction.

REMEMBER students have no idea! That's the whole idea of academic writing. Thus there is a very IMPORTANT tip you need to tell your students- REFERENCES. References need to appear in introduction, body and conclusion of the whole acticle.

Academic writings are usually expositive, hence you need tell your students to use passive languages. Active words are ONLY used in Creative Writing students.

这些是我在澳洲读大学时写报告的基本要求,万变不离其宗,希望可以帮到你!
