ABSTRACT
The proliferation of applications such as Electronic Commerce and the increasingly important role that computer networks, such as the Internet play in today's world, have pushed the search for more secure systems to the forefront of computer science research. One of the most promising recent advances in the area is the increasing deployment of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). These systems represent a novel approach to the problem, and are attracting the attention of a growing number of researchers in the field. Consequently new architectural designs are being proposed and flaws in existing ones are being tackled. In this paper we propose such an architecture, that attempts to avoid some of the common pitfalls of such systems, and provide efficient solutions to well-known problems.
