interpret解释(成[另一种语言])
例如:程序的'解释'(与'编译'相对)
或口译(与'translate'相对)
当然引申含义可以是‘解释',例如:对于一幅画不同的人有不同的解释(这里是把画看为一种艺术语言,而人们不同的看法,看为另一种'语言')
而explain是向某人解释(通过说明,举例,等方法,目的是让某人明白)
