Lunch was now over, and I offered to drive James back to his hotel. He said he had walked over to my place but graciously accepted the lift. We drove the few blocks back to his hotel and pulled into the driveway. I got out, went quickly to his side if the car, opened the door, and started to lean forward with one hand outstretched.
