A is riding a bicycle along a road and B is walking along the same road. They are 2.8 miles apart, and will be together in 12 minutes if they are travelling in opposite directions; in 21 minutes if they are travelling in same direcion. What are their respective rates?

X+Y=2.8/12
X-Y=2.8/21

=> X=1.4 *(1/12 + 1/21)
Y=1.4 *(1/12 - 1/21)

use a calculator and the unit is (miles/mins)

12A+12B=2.8
21B-12A=2.8
计算得：A=11miles/hour
B=3miles/hour

12(A+B)=2.8
21(A-B)=2.8

算出来的是千米每分钟,然后再换算成千米每小时,换算关系你应该知道吧?
