在2005年7月人民币升值前后，国内外学者人民币升值影响的好坏有多种说法。本文主要通过人民币升值对出口贸易、贸易条件、贸易结构以及贸易摩擦的影响的具体分析来评价升值对贸易的影响。首先，在分析升值对出口贸易的影响时，通过对我国出口弹性、加工贸易、一般贸易等方面的分析，得出了人民币升值虽然在短期内会引起出口的下降，但不会像一些预言所推测的那样，会给我国出口贸易带来重创。随后在升值对贸易条件影响的分析中，得出了人民币升值通过价格机制的调节来改善我国贸易条件的结论。接下来又系统的论证了人民币升值通过三个方面可以改善我国的贸易结构。一方面可以促使企业由依靠汇率优势和廉价策略实现增长和出口规模扩大的方式转向以提升产品的质量、科技含量、售后服务，增加产品的附加值等方式来赢得其国际竞争力；另一方面，升值降低了进口先进机器设备、引进国外先进技术的成本，有利于国内企业的升级改造。另外，人民币升值会扩大进口品在中国市场上的竞争力，这必然会加剧市场竞争，优胜劣汰，促使国内企业提高效率以求生存。最后，本文从减少反倾销应对成本，消除贸易壁垒以及改善我国企业在世界市场上的形象三方面说明了人民币升值有利于缓解我国贸易摩擦。
