Bushido, or the creeds of the knight, is a system of moral codes unique to Japan. Since its birth, it had gone through three successive stages of development. For a long period of time, it had been the chief standard of ethics in the feudal Japanese society. Its moral cores are composed of loyalty, bravery, and supremacy of honor. Bushido has had a profound influence on the Japanese for most of the history. In recent years, the Japanese militarists have taken advantage of Bushido as a way of justifying aggression and expansion. We should keep track of the Japanese right-wingers lest they should attempt to bring Bushido back to life, which might lead to the revival of the Japanese militarism.
