1,这个应选后者，以后遇到这样的a ... of ...这样的句型都用所有格，简而言之就是双所有格，不管顺不顺都是这样，比较别扭的是a friend of LiMing's mother's.
2,这个选A，你不用管what在这里是什么词，因为宾语从句用正常语序我们都知道，这个what's the matter 它事实上是一个"主系表”的结构，也是正常语序，千万不要改，要改就错了，一般以what开头的都是这个结构，照写就可了。
3，选A，这样的题完全是看后面的词是什么了，这里后面的side 是一个单数，前面自然应该用either表示“每一边”如果这里的side改为sides，就用both了。
补充一点：
这是在路两边，有时还有在湖边，在湖边时，当用side时，前面用each;当用sides时，前面用every.如：There are many trees on each side of the lake.
第二个问题：选A，如果是both，side要加s 此外还有each是单数，跟either一样
1、应该是my son's，用所有格，这和a friend of mine是一样的；
2、选A，句中Do you know只是插入语，可不必理会，按句型what's the matter即可；
3、选A，either在此处解为“每一边”，后跟单数名词，若用"both"，后需跟复数。
