C,因为表示多久之前就是.....ago这个结构
至于B,是因为,before连接的一般都是个时间点,不会是three month这种表示时间段的.

c before后面应该加时间的词语的，这个可以当作固定用法吧。而且题目中是过去时态，如果选D，则动词应该用表示状态的现在完成时态。

如果用before,那主句就要用持续性的动词。
he had a computer before 3 months.
个人感觉，没什么理论依据

ago,before这两个词都可表示“在若干时间以前”，但用法不同，初学者容易搞错。
ago，应注意两点：(1)用于一般过去时，(2)它所指的时间是从现在算起。
A short while ago, my sister helped me to carry one of my old bookcases up the stairs.
片刻之前，我妹妹帮我把我的一个旧书柜抬上了楼。
It was stolen twenty years ago when Ted was a boy of fifteen.
那辆自行车是在20年前当泰德还是个15岁的小伙子时被偷去的。
before，也应注意两点：(1)它用于过去完成时，(2)它所指的时间不是从现在算起，而是从过去某一时刻算起，有时可以与previously换用

Last summer, I finally left the firm that I had joined eighteen years before.

注：有时before=earlier

当然是选C了，因为ago用于它所修饰的名词后，一般与简单过去时连用，不能与完成时态连用。而before表示在某动作或事情之前。应用于有完成时的句子里。
