如，The boy began to cry when [he was] left alone. 括号中的省略，因为he 和 the boy 是指同一事物，所以可以省略。
那么，我的问题是：
同属引导状语的连词before/after可以有这种省略现象吗？
我的老师给出的答案是否定的。他是中学老师，中学老师的水平总是有限的。
所以我想请教大家，before/after能有这种省略吗？

before引导时间状语从句时表示主句的动作发生在从句动作之前.
after引导时间状语从句时表示主句的动作发生在从句动作之后.
例如：
see me before you leave.在你离开之前来见我.
before they drive any of the buses,they will have to pass a special test.在驾驶公共汽车之前,他们必须通过专门测验
I saw them after i arrived.在我抵达之后,我见到了他们.
I found his pen after he has left.在他走后,我找到了他的笔.
老师是对的。只有when和while有省略的现象。引导时间状语的词很多，还有as，since，as soon as...不要凭自己的想象创造，只要记住该有的就好。
before/after的时间状语从句好像都可以改成动名词吧??

只要前后主语一致，就可以省略．后面跟动名词．你们老师讲错了
