What's an eBook?

Simply put, an e-book (electronic book) is a book, either fiction or non-fiction, in a form readable in one of three ways:

1) downloaded and printed out by the user;

2) read directly on a computer; or

3) other electronic device (such as the Librius Millennium E book reader and the Rocketbook).

Manuals, scripts, product instructions, how-to guides are all examples of e-Books.

While developing computer manuals for kids Velsoft came to the decision to utilize this technology to distribute our titles. We actively promote the use of new technologies (especially in schools) and realized the value of practicing what we preach.

As a technology company we are amazed at the explosion the e-book industry has made on the Internet. It did not take long to make the decision to adopt electronic distribution. Our research in this new area of publishing has reinforced the significance of this industry. Delivering books, manuals, guides, etc. 'on-demand' through the Internet makes sense:

Electronic books cost less because printing costs are not imposed;
Electronic books save trees;
Electronic books are convenient - instant access from home or work;
Electronic books are always in stock;
Electronic books can be purchased and viewed instantaneously;
Electronic books often offer sample chapters for download allowing you to try before you buy.
Electronic books allow for text searching.
