和some对比使用时, 是“有些”的意思而不是做“其他”讲,
如:Some cleaned the windows, others mopped the floor. 有的擦窗户, 有的擦地板。

the other
是其中的“另一个”, 如:Give me the other one; not this one. 给我那一个, 不是这一个。
两个中的“另一个”是“the other”; 不定数目中的“另一个”是“another” , 如:This glass is broken. Get me another. 这个杯子坏了, 给我另拿一个来。(在许多杯子中的一个)

the others
是“其余的”意思, 表示在一个范围内的其他全部,
如: This dictionary is better than the others. 这本字典比别[其余]的好

the other是形容词要加名词，是特指的
other是泛指的，也是形容词要加名词
the others是一个名词，后面不需要加什么名词了，是特指的
others是名词，是泛指的
词组：one...the other(总共两个）
one...other（两个以上）
some...others(两部分）
some...the others （两部分以上）

another指另外的某一个,后接可数名词单数(有时可以省略).如:Would you like another apple.

the other指在一定范围内,一部分之外的另一部分.后面必须加名词. 如:There are 26 students in our class,13 students are girls,the other students are boys.
注意:one....the other....是固定短语,意思是一个...另一个....此时,the other 后不可以有名词.

other 和the other 相似,只是other只是指另一部分,不可有范围限制.I have many books,some are on maths,some books are on Chinese,other books are on English.
注意:other和the other可变形为others,the others
此时相当与other 和the other加名词.如the other students=the others.
注意:没有one.....the others...

在初中学习中区分other和the other的用法是一个难点,
尤其对于隐藏范围的判断.如手只有两只等约定俗成的范围,作题是应注意.

another只是指另一个 并没有强调一个范围
the other 是在两者之间 one....the other....
other指的是其余的

another 指另外的某个,the other 指有两个,一个..样,另一个,other表示其余的.
